In an effort to change the media spotlight off his tax returns, Mitt Romney, turn
to obvious dog-whistle racism spreading lies on President Obama over welfare.
Romney is making the blatant false claim in a new political ad claiming that the welfare reform waiver plan announced by the Obama administration last week would strip the established work requirements from welfare. “The success of bipartisan welfare reform, passed under President Clinton, has rested on the obligation of work.
The President’s action is completely misdirected. Work is a dignified endeavor, and the linkage of work and welfare is essential to prevent welfare from becoming a way of life,” Romney said.
However, in 2005, Romney sign a letter from the Republican Governor’s Association to congressional leadership asking for the exact waver issued by the Obama administration. The letter states explicit support for welfare waivers.
The lie is blatant and shameless and pushes racial stereotypes.
